Privacy, in plain words
No accounts, no ads, no tracking. What your child does in DreamBug stays on your device.

The reading app
DreamBug has no accounts and no sign up. The app does not send us your child's profile, their shelf, their favourites or what they read.
What stays on your device
So that profiles, shelves and parent controls work, the app saves this on the device only:
- Reader profiles: a first name or nickname, a girl or boy choice, an age, and the world chosen for their shelf
- Favourites, the page each book was left on, and story ratings you give at the end of a book
- Your parent code and the settings for each reader's shelf
- Recordings you make with Your voice
None of this is sent to us or to anyone else, with one exception explained below: a child's age, counted anonymously. Deleting the app deletes all of it. Device backups are controlled by Apple and your own settings.
Ages, counted anonymously
When you add a reader you can give their age, from 2 to 6 and over. The first time an age is given, the app sends that one number to our server at dreambug.app, and nothing else: no name, no profile, no device identifier, no location. We keep only monthly totals, such as how many readers are four, so we know who DreamBug is for and which stories to make. A total cannot be traced back to you or your child.
The age never changes what your child can see. You can leave it out: the app works the same without it.
Your voice recordings
DreamBug uses the microphone only when a parent records a story in the parents area. Recordings are saved in the app's storage on the device and play back only on that device. They are never uploaded, and we never hear them. You can record any page again at any time.
Book downloads
The four free books are built into the app. When a subscriber opens a DreamBug Pro book for the first time, the app downloads its pages from our book server at books.dreambug.app, which runs on Cloudflare.
Like any download, the server receives the device's internet address and the name of the file, because it needs them to deliver the book. No account, name or information about your child is sent, and we do not use these requests to identify or follow anyone.
No advertising and no tracking
DreamBug contains no advertising, no advertising software and no analytics or attribution software. We do not use the device advertising identifier, we do not build a profile of your child, and we do not track anyone across apps or websites. On Apple's App Privacy label, the anonymous age count is the only item, listed as data not linked to you.
Subscriptions and payment
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through your Apple account. We never see your payment details. To check whether a subscription is active, the app asks Apple through StoreKit. To manage or cancel, use Settings on your device, under your Apple account.
When you email us
In the parents area, Email us and the story rating at the end of a book open your own email app with a message we have started for you. It includes the app version, the device model and the iOS version, and for a rating, the book, your stars and your notes. You can read and change all of it, and nothing is sent unless you press send.
We use emails only to answer you and to improve our books. We keep them only for as long as we need them for that, and we delete them sooner if you ask.
The website
If you use the contact form on dreambug.app, we receive the name, email address, topic and message you enter, and use them to reply. The form sends your message to our support inbox through Cloudflare. You can always email [email protected] instead. The website shows no advertising and runs no analytics or tracking scripts.
Children's privacy
DreamBug is made for children to use with their families. We do not collect personal information from children: the app keeps a child's profile and reading on the device, the age count carries nothing that identifies anyone, and the contact form and email are meant for grown-ups. Parent-facing links and purchases sit behind a grown-ups question or your code. That gate is a helpful boundary, not a replacement for a grown-up nearby.
Your rights
Everything the app stores is on your device and under your control. If you have emailed us or used the contact form, you can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold at [email protected]. If you live in the UK or the European Union, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page with a new date. If what the app does with information ever changes, we will explain it clearly here and in the app before it happens.
